{Creative Fix} DIY Bath Bombs

Do It Yourself {DIY} Bath Bombs

I made these bath bombs as shower favors for my girl's bridal shower.
I hadn't made them before, but looked at a few recipes online and finally decided to mix some up.

You know me, I don't follow recipes very well, I always switch them up somehow.

So this is what I did.

What You'll Need:

1/2 cup Cornstarch
1/4 cup Epsom Salt
1 cup Baking Soda

1/2 cup Citric Acid
3/4 tbsp Water
2 3/4 tbsp Olive Oil
Food Coloring
Essential Oil (scent of your choice)

I mixed the water and food coloring in a spray bottle.

Just a sidenote about the citric acid- it's hard to find, I found mine in the canning section at Walmart.

You will also need

A bowl for mixing dry ingredients
A small bowl for wet ingredients
A candy or ice mold
A whisk
A sifter (optional)

Sift your dry ingredients into large bowl,

Mix the olive oil and essential oils in the small bowl and pour into large bowl.

Start whisking and spraying a little at a time.  If you are not using a spray bottle, add your water/food coloring very slowly.  You don't want to add too much too fast, the dry will react to the wet and begin to fizz.  You don't want that, so I suggest using the spray bottle.

You want your mixture to become much like the texture of damp sand.  It should mold into a ball like so.

Next, fill your molds.
I let mine dry over night.  You want them completely dry before popping them out.

And there you have it.  Sweet little Bath Bombs or Bath Fizzies. (Whichever you prefer to call them)

I like to put them in a basin for a foot bath.  So relaxing.
The Epsom salt helps with aches, pains and swelling, while the olive oil moisturizes and the essential oil smells great.

{Creative Fix} Paper Roll Bird Feeder

The boys and I made our paper roll bird feeders that I first mentioned in this post.

They were super easy but lots of fun.  My boys like to get messy without worrying about me telling them not to.

We used,
1 long paper roll (cut in 3)
Peanut Butter
Bird Seed
String

Spread the pb on the rolls,

Cover with the bird seed,

run the string through the roll and tie the ends together.

And there you have it.
Each of us had a bird feeder to hang in the trees around the house.

They were so proud of their work.

The next morning, we witnessed two squirrels fighting over one of the feeders.

I hope we didn't start a war out there.

{Creative Fix} Crafting with Paper Rolls

Next month Mr. A is turning 2.  I'm planning a pirate party for him and my nephew at my mom's house.  I've been somewhat obsessed with this party.

Anyway, I had my mom save me a bunch of paper towel rolls to make pirate telescopes.  Well she saved way more than I needed, so I decided to recycle them in a craft with the boys, instead of just throwing them in the recycle bin.  During my search for the perfect craft, I found so many.  I really never knew there was so many things you can do with a paper towel roll.

So naturally, I decided to share my finds with you all.  These are just a few of the many.

Cord Holder

Pillow Boxes

Christmas Ornament

Snake

Bird Feeder

Scissor/Pen Holder

Painting with Paper Rolls

Ribbon Scrap Gift

Candy Filled Rockets

Butterflies

Wreath

So many great crafts.  I think the boys and I will start with the bird feeder...

{Creative Fix} DIY Sugar Scrub

While I was pregnant with Wynter I came across a you tube video of a tutorial on how to make body scrubs.  I am a product junkie.  I love a new product of any type.  I'm also a craft/DIY junkie.  I love to make things.  So trying one out for myself was a no brainer.

This stuff is so good.  I use it all over my body, from head neck to toe.  It scrubs away all the dead skin and moisturizes at the same time.
Leaving the skin soft, smooth and smelling good.
It has even eliminated some of the small bumps I get on the back of my arms.

I have to say, that first batch had me hooked and I have been making it ever since.  I love it so much that I even made small jars as favors for my baby shower.

Anywoo, I've been meaning to write a post about it for a while now, but hey, better late than never..

I played around with the ingredients before finding the perfect mix for me but you can customize it easily to fit your needs.

You will need:

2 Cups of Sugar
3/4 cup of Olive Oil (not extra virgin, that's too strong smelling & more $$)
1 tbsp of Vanilla Extract (optional, but smells like heaven)
Scented Essential Oil
I used orange essential oil, but any scent works.
Lemon, Lavender, Rose, Grapefruit... etc.
Peppermint (minus the vanilla) is great for the holidays.

Add all your ingredients to a large bowl.

And mix well.
(I had a helper mix for me)

Put it in any jar of your liking.

These are gifts so they went in dressed up canning jars.
For my personal portion I use an empty container from a store bought scrub that I keep in my shower.

That's it.

Easy Peasy.

Directions for use:

Wet skin
Gently rub generous amount all over body
Rinse
Pat dry with towel.

If you try it be sure to come back and let me know what you think.

{Craft Fix} 4th of July Onesie

Leading up to the 4th, I had been looking for a sweet little "red, white and blue" outfit for Wynter but couldn't find one.  Don't get me wrong there was lots of little patriotic outfits for baby girls everywhere, but I'm cheap frugal, I couldn't find one at a price I was willing to pay.  Not only that, I had a feeling the weather was gonna be a bit iffy, and everything I saw was for hot weather.

So being the little crafter that I am, I decided to whip something up for her on my own.

One quick look through my box of ribbon was all it took.
I found red and blue ribbon and even found a couple little felt star embellishments.

A plain white onesie, ribbon and hot glue,
and wa-la.

I even made a matching hair clip.

Little Wynter was all set for the 4th festivities.

Patriotic Swag!

{Craft Fix} Recycled Crayons

I've been seeing lots of tutorials on melting and remolding crayons lately. And since the bays have a ton of old broken crayons I thought this would be a great project to do with them.

First we had to dig out all the broken crayons from the crayon box.

Then we had to remove the paper wrappers from each,

And separate them by color into a mini muffin tin.

Next I melted the crayons in the oven at 275 degrees for 10 mins,
then let them cool and set completely before removing them from the muffin tin.

They turned out really well.  The boys loved them and they are a perfect fit for Avon's little hands.

What a fun little project.
