{Food Fix} Betty Crocker Giveaway

Got a sweet tooth?

Me? There is very few times, when I don't have a sweet tooth.  I have this very bad habit of wanting something sweet every night after dinner.  Of course I don't reach for a piece of cake or a bowl of ice cream every time I crave something sweet.  Sometimes I reach for a diet soda, or a sugar free pudding snack or sometimes I just fight the urge.

Other times, I splurge, like nobody's business!!

So when I received a box of Betty Crocker products in the mail, I got excited.

In the box was...

 this...
and this.

Of course each of these products make delish treats when prepared by following the basic intructions, but they are also the perfect foundations for other treats such as these...

Peppermint Chex Mix

A few weeks ago, I received a package in the mail from Betty Crocker filled with the ingredients needed to whip up a batch of this deliciousness.
The recipe is called reindeer feed, but since Santa and his four legged friends had already made their way around the world passing out gifts, by the time I had a chance to make it, I'm calling it Peppermint Chex Mix.

Ingredients

3 cups of Chex cereal ( I used Corn Chex)
1 bag of white chocolate chips
3-5 candy canes

Directions

Pour cereal in a large bowl
Crush candy canes
Melt white chocolate in the microwave in 30 sec intervals, mixing between until smooth
Mix in half the crush candy canes into the melted chocolate
Pour over cereal and mix until coated
Spread over a cooking sheet lined with parchment or foil
Sprinkle remainder of candy canes on top
Let cool before breaking apart
Enjoy!

I have to tell you, that it was delish. We're not big white chocolate fans in my house, but we all really enjoyed this treat. I made extra to use up all the left over candy canes, but no worries, I sent some home with a cousin and my MIL.

Thanks to the great peeps at Betty Crocker for the yummy treat!

Baking With Betty - Day One

As you all know, I went to the Baking With Betty Event in Minneapolis this past Monday and Tuesday. It was really exciting. There were 30 bloggers invited. A combination of food, mommy and frugal living bloggers. All very interesting women, from all over the US.

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were all greeted with name badges and swag bags.

Some great Betty Crocker baking tools.

The event for the evening was a dinner cruise around Lake Minnetonka. A beautiful lake, surrounded by big beautiful homes. The weather couldn't have been better. We spent most of the cruise on the top deck enjoying the perfect weather.

There was a little snack bar.
Nachos and dip.

And Chex Mix sprinkled with dill. Interesting, but tasty, if you like dill.

There was also a bar. I ordered a lemonade spiked with a touch of blueberry vodka. I requested it be made weak, since I am nursing. But it was still really good. The rest of the night I sipped on water.

Dinner wasn't great. But it was dinner and by this time, I was starved.
Fried chicken, cheesey potatoes, salad and a roll.

After dinner these tastey little treats were passed out.
Blueberry-Lemon creamy little bars of goodness.

The cruise was a great start to the event that provided a chance for all us bloggers to get to know one another.
