{Food Fix} Food Find - Jif Mocha Cap

While wandering the aisles of Target, I spotted this.

Hmm, what do we have here?  I thought to myself.

Mocha Cappuccino flavored Hazelnut Spread.

I like the sound of that.

Of course I had to try it.  Which has the potential to be really good, but really bad too.

I hope it's not so good, that I get hooked and can't stop eating it.

When I finally got to try it, I opted for a plentiful spread on a slice of whole grain bread.

Folded it over and took a bite.
Delish!!!

Smooth and creamy!
Chocolately and Mocha-y!

So good.

I really did want another, but I also want to look good in my jeans, so I quickly screwed the lid back on the jar and returned it to the cabinet.

{Food Fix} Snack Attack

I'm a peanut butter lover.
Real peanut butter.  None of that almond, sunflower, or other fancy shmancy stuff.  Don't get me wrong though, the other butters are good, but they just don't do it for me when I'm craving your regular old creamy PB.

Since I love it so much, I have to find ways to eat it without over doing it, because we all know how easy it is to take the jar and a big serving spoon to the couch and go to town, all while watching a reality show marathon.
(Oh, not you?  Just me?)

Anyhoo,
One of mine and my boys' fave PB snacks is what we like to call a Peanut Butter Roll-Up.

Basically, it's PB spread on a tortilla and rolled up.

But we like to mix it up sometimes,
This time Avon and I made them like this.

The sprinkle of cinnamon, is a must!

Snack Away.  Yum!

{Food Fix} Yogurt Parfait

How do you like your yogurt?

Me, I like mine with raisins and granola.

I know granola can be dangerous!!  High in sugar, calories and fat but I like it.
{{{m.o.d.e.r.a.t.i.o.n.}}}
My fave kind as of right now, is Bare Naked's fruit and nut.  So good.

As for my yogurt, my fave flavours are mixed berry or vanilla.
Regular yogurt, not that Greek stuff.  I've tried it and tried it, just not my flava!!

What about you?  How do you like your yogurt?

{Food Fix} Snack Attack

Sometimes, I just want to snack the day away.  And in my mind, that's ok.  Everyday doesn't have to be designed around 3 standard meals.
One thing I like to do when I'm in a snacky mood is make a platter.  What goes on my platter depends on what's in the fridge, but I always try to balance it out with healthy snacks.

 Hummus, pretzel minis, string cheese,

mushrooms, and baby carrots.
This was delish!!
Satisfying, fresh, and healthy.

{Food Fix} Sweet and Salty

I love, love, love Trail Mix.

Pretty much all varieties and combos.

It's so good, but so bad.  I could kill an entire bag.  Luckily I know this, so I try to control my portions.

That's why I fill this little dish instead of bringing the whole bag to the couch with me.
Yum!!

{Food Fix} Simple Snack

Sometimes, the most simple snacks are the most satisfying.
One of my all time faves is just an easy cheese and cracker plate.

And b/c I was starving, I added some tuna mix.
Just a good ol' simple snack.
Yum!

{Food Fix] Food Find ~ Oloves

Do you like olives?

I happen to really like olives and they were something I craved with my first pregnancy.

My mom found these snack packs of olives called Oloves.
With no preservatives and only 40 cals per pack, they are a perfect little snack to keep handy.

They come in 2 flavors. I tried the Tasty Mediterranean: basil and garlic.

Delish.

{Food Fix} Yogurt Mix

When I was younger I really didn't like yogurt.  It was a texture thing.  But over time it has come to be one of my favorite go-to snacks.

I usually eat it like this...
Low fat or fat free vanilla with granola and some raisins.

All mixed together.  Yum!
I still havn't gotten into Greek Yogurt.  I'm just not a fan of the tang.

What about you? Are you a yogurt fan?
How do you like it?

Wontons... yum

The Hubs and I love Wonton Soup. When we visit my fam in Surrey, we always hit up our fave Chinese restaurant and Wonton Soup is a must. Well we havn't been able to find any good Won Tons here at home, so home made is the next best thing.
I didn't make these, the Hubs did and he didn't really use a recipe. I know they are filled with ground pork and shrimp, water chestnuts, celantro and seasonings.
Delish.

I didn't eat these in a soup, I just ate them as a finger food, like a little dumpling and dipped them in Sweet Chili Sauce.

Food Food Food

Who doesn't love a bowl of hot soup on a cold day? I know I do. This tomato soup was more that delish.

Instead of the traditional grilled cheese sandwich, I opted for a slice of cheddar inside a toasted whole wheat pita. Perfect for dipping.

I've been having a lot of quick fix meals lately, havn't done a whole lot of cooking. Here is a Lean Cuisine Pasta Primavera with a side of brussel sprouts.

I've been really craving eggs latley. So for breaky fast one morn I had 1 whole & 1 egg white, over medium, with a toasted pita. Have you ever toasted your pita? It's really good. I keep my pita's in the fridge, but don't like to eat them cold, so I pop them in the toaster. They come out a little crispy around the edges but warm and soft in the middle.

More sprouts. I've been on a serious brussel sprout kick. This time they were paired with a Lean Cuisine chicken and garlic pizza.

I've been trying to avoid a cold lately, and gulping one of these down every other day has been helping.
94%FF POPCORN!!

Thomas' Light English Muffin with PB. One of my fave snacks ever.

I eat a banana just about everyday. Either with breakyfast or on the go.
Juicy Orange. Another fruit I've been having just about everyday.

Of course Oatmeal had to make an appearance. Love my oats, esp. on a cold day.

That was just a quick run down of some of my food choices lately.

Sweet Potato Fries.

I have yet to master making these fries. I've tried several different methods including coating them in egg whites before baking, but none of them ever really get that crispy bite that I love from real fries. Don't get me wrong though they still taste great and I love eating them.

Food

Because I've been so busy lately and working evenings, I haven't had much time to post my eats.
So here is a run down of some of the deliciousness I've enjoyed in the past few days. No dinners pictured b/c they have been eaten at work. Mostly soup and crackers.

Yummy bowl of oatmeal. I put a little twist on this bowl of oats: I added some chopped pear with a spoonful of pumpkin butter. Really good.
A quick snack I had was a plate of rf triscuits, 1 slice of cheddar and a few slices of turkey pepperoni.

I received this yummy Bare Naked Tropical Grain-Ola bar in the mail a few days ago. It was good, I'm not a huge tropical fruit fan unless it's fresh, so I bet I would enjoy one of the other flavors more. But it was moist and had a great chewy texture.

For lunch one day, I had a quick & simple green salad,

Along side of a wrap. Inside the wrap was a Gardenburger Black Bean and Chipotle Veggie Burger, sprinkled with a touch of mexi mix cheese, salsa and lettuce. Really good.

So Far So Good

I've been true to my healthy plans so far. And I have to say, I'm happy about it. I think I got my "groove" back. I've stuck to my plan to make it to the gym everyday after dropping Jaelyn off at school. Yay!!

My eats have been great too. No mindless snacking and lots of healthy choices. Here are a few of my meals from the last couple of days.

{Oatmeal w/ Pumpkin Butter}
{This fruit bar was really good}
{Garden Salad}
{TJ's dried Apple Rings made a great snack}
{Golden Delicious Apple & a Sandwich Thin w/ Almond Butter and Honey}

{Kashi Go Lean w/ ff milk and a Banana}

We went out for Italian Tuesday night. I wanted Fettucine Alfredo so bad. So creamy, so yummy. But I decided to have the Penne Primavera with a side salad.
Jaelyn and Eric had pizza.

The pasta was way too much, I ate all the veggies and almost half of the pasta.

{Jaelyn loved the ooey gooey cheeeese}

{Yogurt Mix w/ Strawberries, Raisins, Puffins, Fiber One and Bare Naked Fit}

Hey check this out.

I received my giveaway from Jen. Thanks Girl.

Tonight, Eric and I are going to see my nephew perform in his very first major production.

He is in this show

playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.

I'm so excited. This is right up my alley, I was a big drama head in High School and really wish I stayed involved in theatre after graduating. Maybe I will again someday.

But for now, I get to watch my nephew do his thing.

I hope I can get a pick of him afterwards in his costume.
