{Family Fix} Mother's Day with the Family

FYI - I had no internet at home for about 3 weeks, so I have a lot of blogging to do in order to catch you up to date.  So if my next few posts seem a bit out dated, that's why.

My mothers day was great. 

I woke up and realized it was my very first Mothers Day as a Mommy of 3.  I felt complete.  Our family unit is what I've always dreamed of.  Me and my wonderful husband and our beautiful babies.  Love.

The Hubs already had the day planned out.  Which was perfect for me.  All I had to do was get ready and ride.


Of course before we left, we took a family pic.

We drove to Seattle and our first stop was Dicks for some burgers.
This burger joint is iconic in Seattle.  They have a very basic menu of burgers, homecut fries and milkshakes.  And since they serve through walk up windows, it great for a quick lunch.

 

 

Next we went to the Woodland Park Zoo.  The weather here was beautiful so it was a perfect day to spend at the zoo.

After the zoo, we headed over to this little Trinidadian restaurant called Pam's Kitchen.  I love Caribbean food and theirs is authentic and delish.  Actually, we first heard about this place on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, so apparently we're not the only ones who love their food.

I got the curry beef and the Hubs got the curry chicken.

Homemade Roti skins...  so good.

{Family Fix} Easter at the Market

Happy Easter!!

Yesterday, we had a great day.  It started with a egg hunt in the front yard for Avon.  He loved it, each time he found an egg he got so excited.  Totally cute.

Of course we got a few pics.

Wynter wasn't in the mood for a photo shoot, she was all tears so this is as good as it got for her.



After Avon's egg hunt, we headed out to downtown Seattle.  The weather out here was beautiful, a perfect day to stroll around the Pike Place Market.

I love all the handmade items for sale.  I thought these glass blown bulbs were pretty.

Of course there are lots of fresh spring flowers for sale at the market.

And plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

 

Seattle is such a beautiful city.  Lots of culture, and art.  You never know what you might see at any given moment.

While downtown, we took a look into World Market.  If you are not familiar, World Market is a store full of unique items from many places.  They sell a mix of goods, from beautiful furniture, beer & wine, packaged foods, sweet goodies and fashion accessories all from around the world. 

While cruising the aisles, I found some interesting items.

Hilarious name.

And this microwaveable can of Spotted Dick from England.

{Family Fix} Pumpkin Around

Yesterday, The Hubs and I finally got the chance to take the boys to the pumpkin patch.  It's always so much fun.  I love to pick out pumpkins.  I don't like the perfect ones, I like them unique.

Last year after halloween, I found a ton of halloween decorations and costumes for 90% off the original price.  So I paid less than $4 for both of these together.

I love a good deal!

Tonight, we're gonna carve our pumpkins and I think, I'm gonna make some pumpkin pie.

Yum.

Memorial Day Weekend

Sunday after church, Jaelyn and I, along with some family went to visit loved ones passed.


My grandfather worked at the cemetery many years ago, so he and my grandmother bought 5 plots for themselves and their 3 children.


My grandfather, Papa George, passed 3 years before I was born, so I never had a chance to meet him, but I've heard many great stories about him throughout the years.


My grandmother, Granny, passed just a few months before I gave birth to Jaelyn. It was a rough time for me, I was really close to her and was so upset that she would not be a part of my son's life. She was an amazing women.


In the third filled plot are my Great Grandmother, Mother Dear and her brother (my great-great uncle) Uncle Tony. I became very close to the two of them during my high school years when we all lived at Granny's house. They were the 2 youngest children and the last living of 12. When their health began to get bad, Granny sent for them to come live with her. The both of them were so amazing to be around. The stories they used to tell and the wisdom they passed down to us youngsters was priceless. What a blessing to be able to be so close to them both.

This is one of the last pictures I have of my Granny. She was so proud to watch me get married and I was so happy to have her there supporting me. 7 short months later, she took her place in heaven. {Love you Gran}

Like I said earlier, Papa George used to work at this cemetery. This is the fountain he helped build during that time.
In the picture is my Aunt and her 3 daughters. I think it's pretty cool, that she is able to sit on the very fountain her father helped build so many years ago.






Surprisingly, our visit wasn't a sad one. I've been to visit by myself a few times before, but it was great to be there as a family.

Easter Treats

Each year the community center in my area throws an Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddies. But each time Jaelyn and I have gone, he's walked away with an empty basket and I a headache from the chaos. So this year, I'm getting some girlfriends and their kids together for a hunt of our own.


We're gonna meet at a park, hide treats and let the kiddies hunt.
I didn't have any plastic eggs so, J and I made these little treat bags.


They were extremely simple, just a little baggy, some printed cardstock and staples.



We're not doing our Hunt until the 3rd, but I made them early to keep from picking at the candy.

I'm hoping it doesn't rain, but if it does we'll be out there anyway. After all, Seattle's not only known for Starbucks but the rain as well.

Holiday 2009 Recap.

I really would have liked to have done more blogging during December but the time was short. December is always such a busy month. Lots of celebrations, family traditions, traveling and holiday events. I took lots of pictures with the intention of blogging about each event and meal. But, unfortunately I was unable to do so.


So, instead I have piled together a few pics of some of the highlights of my December.


This is Jaelyn trying to catch a snowflake from the little snow we did manage to get this year.
It's crazy because last year we had a huge snow storm that lasted days.

My poor dog Hennessy, I tortured him once again and dressed him in is Santa suit. He was pissed but I thought he looked adorable.

My girlfriend had a Tacky Christmas Sweater Party. What a hoot. We did a white elephant gift exchange. I walked away with a $20 Target gift card. Score!
The food was delish. Chicken wings, tacos, cheese and crackers, apple tart, veggies & dip, lots of cookies, apple cider and punch. After the good eats, we played a few rounds of Apples to Apples and a hilarious game of Pictionary. Great night with friends.

Every year we spend Christmas with my parents in BC. Jaelyn and I drove up a few days early and Eric met up with us on Christmas Eve.
While we were there we made graham cracker gingerbread houses. Jaelyn loved it.

Jaelyn decorated his house all by himself. I think he did a great job.

On Christmas Eve Jaelyn, my neph Lincoln, my parents and I went out to the front yard to spread Reindeer food on the lawn.
It was a mix of sugar, sparkles and wheat. We got it from Santa at the Christmas Train. It came with a label that said:


Sprinkle on the Lawn at Night
The Moon will make it Sparkle Bright
Santa's Reindeer Fly and Roam
This will Guide them to your Home


I thought this was so cute.


Jaelyn had fun tossing the Reindeer food around.

Later that night, Jaelyn and Lincoln entertained us by dancing in their matching PJ's. How cute!

The sea of presents at my parents' house always takes up the entire living room. We are a big family. There was 12 of us opening gifts.

One of my faves, was Snuggies for our family. Jaelyn loves his.
