{Family Fix}Annual Heeps Family Picnic

This past weekend was my family picnic in BC.
It's an annual event, were the family comes together, catch up with each other, eat, compete in races, eat and eat some more.

I got my grub on all day.  It was shameful.

 My MIL bought us these shirts while on her vacay at Universal Studios so I thought the picnic was the perfect place to wear them.
Sometimes I really do feel like we are a family of Things.

{Family Fix} Backyard Summer

It's been so nice to have some beautiful weather around here. 
I love hanging out in the backyard with the kiddos and just lounging around.

{Fun Fix} Tacoma Farmers Market

Mr. A, Wynnie and I took a stroll around the Tacoma Farmers Market.

My neighbor lost her husband recently so I bought her some flowers from the market

I bought this jar of mustard, gonna try it on some grilled steaks.

I sipped on a delish and healthy green smoothie.

 I love the farmers market. 
I didn't buy any fresh produce because I was already stocked up at home, but I'll will go back next week.  Everything looked so freh and yummy.

{Food Fix} Taste of Tacoma

This past weekend we went to The Taste of Tacoma.  A food festival featuring all kinds of different cuisines. 

This year was especially exciting for us because my BIL Rocky had a booth selling his delicious cupcakes. 

His company, Goodies Cupcakes and Delights specialize in unique flavor combinations including watermelon, cherry, mint chocolate chip and kiwi lime.

Some of them are named after family members.  He even has one named after my son, J-Boogie Banana!  So cute.

I know how delish they are, and I really try not to eat them.

But I couldn't resist the Pecan Delight!!

Of course we didn't go to a food festival just to eat cupcakes. 

There was so much more to try.

I started with an Elk burger.

This was my first Elk burger, although I've had Elk meat before.  It wasn't too bad.

A bit dryer that a beef burger, but the grilled onions added some moisture. 

In addition to the food booths, there is also lots of other booths selling locally made items.

After trying the samples of this Balsamic Vinegar, I had to buy a bottle.  It was delish and I can think of so many things to spread it on, like grilled veggies, salmon, or even a spinach salad.

One of the more unique food items at the fair is the Alligator on a Stick.

Of course we gave it a try.

Jaelyn thought it was chicken and we didn't tell him is wasn't until he finished his piece.  Ha Ha!

Just a few more thing we tried. BBQ, Jamaican Patty, Lumpia and Coconut Milk.

I love food, so naturally I love a food fest.

Even little Wynnie had a good time.

{Family Fix} Beach Day

It had been so beautiful around here the beginning weeks of Sept.  Now we are back to the drab weather that we are so used to.

I'm glad we got the chance to take advantage of the beautiful days and have a little beach fun.

Still not ready to say "good bye" to summer.

{Fun Fix} Zoo Day

Our little family of 4 decided to spend some time together at the zoo.

Jaelyn loves animals, esp. penguins, so he had a blast.

The penguins came super duper close to the gate so we were able to get a really good look at them.

Jaelyn was on cloud nine.

Of course he didn't want to leave the exhibit for like 20 mins.

The penguins really are too cute.

{Family Fix} Parade Fun

Sunday the Hubs went fishing and I took the boys to a parade.
I love parades.  I remember going to parades in the summertime when I was a little girl visiting my Granny.   So much excitment.
These days when I go to parades I'm extra excited because I have a handful of little relatives who perform in the parades.  And it's so fun to cheer them on as they pass by.

The parade was a part of a larger festival so of course when Jaelyn saw the rides he had to get on a few.

We met up with some cousins and they all got to ride together.

Sunday turned out to be a perfect summer day.  Lot's of family, sun and fun.
